Screenshot_2020-08-05 Servage - Cron jobs 1000850(1)You want to automate repetitive tasks via your Servage hosting account? No problem – we are offering Cron Jobs for our customers! Cron is a Linux utility which schedules a command or script on your server to run automatically at a specified time and date. A cron job is the scheduled task itself. Cron jobs can be very useful to automate repetitive tasks and allow users to run commands or scripts at a given date and time. You can schedule scripts to be executed periodically. Crontab files can be used e.g. to automate backups, system maintenance and other repetitive tasks. The syntax is powerful and flexible, so you can have a task run every fifteen minutes or at a specific minute on a specific day every year. Each line of a crontab file represents a job, and looks like this:

* * * * * command to be executed
– – – – –
| | | | |
| | | | —– Day of week (0 – 7) (Sunday=0 or 7)
| | | ——- Month (1 – 12)
| | ——— Day of month (1 – 31)
| ———– Hour (0 – 23)
————- Minute (0 – 59)

How use cron via Servage?
If you want to run any script or execute something on server every minute or hour then you can set cron in your Servage hosting account. We have placed cron under scheduler option:

  • login to the Servage control panel
  • click on “Domain and websites”
  • click on “Schedule URL”
  • on the right hand side of the screen there is add new cron job button (Green color icon)
  • now you can complete the cron job mask to let the system know how and when you want to run your cron job:
    Put name of cronjob in ‘Name’ field – select the intveral on which you want to run the job  – select the execution time: under ‘start’ option : first select date using the calender and if you want to execute cronjobs from midnight, then click on “Midnight” else click on “Now + 3min”. If interval selected as “Hourly” then one option occurred as “Recur”, here put the exact hours for the cron –  in ‘URL’ section, you must add cron excution URL where you have added cronjob task.
  • as soon as the details are entered, push the button “Add” and the cron job is good to go.
