New record sales of domain names

Saturday, June 29th, 2019 by Helge

That some domain names are a bit more valuable than others is at a bad and a good thing. It may be that the name itself is short and easy to remember, or thmoney-1501252666apFat it alludes to something either widely known or universal. And since a domain name has become the cornerstone of most companies’ business and business strategy, they have also become a sought after commodity. Thus, so-called domain auctions and domain brokerage have become an industry that converts large amounts of money. Over the years, there have been a number of gigantic sales of domain names, both publicly and under the table.

Recently, the company announced MicroStrategy in a press release (which was then confirmed by GoDaddy as acting broker) that they completed the largest sales so far when selling the domain name voice.com to a tech startup named Block.one, which reportedly uses the domain name to a new block chain based social media application. The price? Unimaginable $ 30 million – more than twice as much as the previous record, held by sex.com who went under the $ 13 million club. The only other domain name sales that exceeded $ 10 million are tesla.com, which Elon Musk revealed last December that he had slipped $ 11 million to get his hands on.

MicroStrategy still owns a portfolio of exceptional domain names that have the potential to raise revenue at the same level as voice.com at a sale, including strategy.com, glory.com, alert.com, hope.com, wisdom.com and courage.com.

As we mentioned in the introduction, a lot of extremely large sales also take place under the table and with silence clauses, so it is highly probable that the rumors that even larger sales have taken place are correct, but they cannot be confirmed. Below is a list of the largest confirmed public and cash paid sales ever reported:

1. Voice.com $30.000.000

2. Sex.com $13.000.000

3. Tesla.com $11.000.000

4. Fund.com $ 9.999.950

5. Porn.com $ 9.500.000

6. Porno.com $8.888.888

7. We.com $8.000.000

8. Diamond.com $7.500.000

9. Z.com $6.784.000

10. Slots.com $ 5.500.500
